The most recognizable figure in all of KAWS' work, the companion has appeared in many different iterations and on several different mediums throughout the years. After recent increasing demand, Kaws released a full series of six different companions that included both full body and flayed versions of the classic character.

Over a year after the BFF character was revealed at the Central Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, rumors started to swirl that KAWS would be releasing a 13-inch vinyl edition of the much loved character. Sure enough, this BFF Vinyl Open Edition in Black released in October, 2017. This black version was available exclusively through KAWSONE, and features and all-black body with a contrasting pink nose and white eyes. One of the larger vinyl editions that KAWS has released, this BFF makes a great display piece for any living space.

But because he seemed interested, I suggested we play a match. In December 2017, KAWS released a new version of his classic companion character, titled "Small Lie". The figure features the companion slumped over in what appears to be a disappointing stance, with a long nose that's reminiscent of Pinocchio. Unique from the Open Edition Companions, this figure included overalls on the character and did not come in flayed versions. This Small Lie Companion in Gray includes various shades of gray with black accents used on KAWS' signature eye and hand motifs. The small lie companion originally debuted as a 30-foot tall statue made of African hardwood at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in the United Kingdom, and is now available in a size that you can actually fit in your apartment.
